Riddle me this, interweb and interwebbers ::  when exactly do you receive your college refund check?

Bootleg + MC Breed “No Future”
(hover over button & press play)

I’ve always paid for college with cash, but with times being so “rough”, I’ve called upon the assistance of financial aid, the NWLBprogram and… ahem… the dreaded student loan.

NOTE: If you live in Michigan, are a college student or are thinking about going to college or trade school in the future – PLEASE look into the  “No Worker Left Behind Program“.   Who wouldn’t want $10,000 for college with no strings attached??  Not only that – the program is paying for my fuel, helping with insurance (one month as of now), and will be helping with new tires and brake repairs.  Best of all, anyone can sign up (as long as you live in MI & earn under $40k a year).

Why am I so anxiously waiting for these funds?  Here’s a list of just some of the things I am in need of :

  • car insurance (for a BMW)
  • new windshield (again, for a BMW)
  • fuel (PREMIUM.  I’m kicking myself for buying that car)
  • new PC or laptop repair
  • THIN CLOTHES! / work and play
  • health/dental insurance
  • debts (≈ $600), Joe Cool ($250+) & Kevin Sturtz ($30)
  • DEMF fund
  • Rothbury fund (most important thing on list)
  • vitamins (fish oil, liquid b12, biotin + many more)
  • new cell phone + 6mo of service
  • solar lights, new tent, hammock, weather balloon
  • WordPress upgrade so I can embed the music player ($20)

Please Student Loan Network… send me some cash.  I promise… there’s at least some future in my frontin’!

D Double.  I Proclaim My Name.

After you have used it in the college store, or after you have showed that you are attending classes, they should send it to you in less than a month, I should get mine in about 2-3 weeks. No less. They will send you usually $2000 every semester. Never a one lump sum. Sometimes you are lucky and will get $3000, but they send it in small amounts every semester you take so it will last you. Sometimes, if you are in a Spring or Summer class they will only send you $1000. It all depends on how many credits you are taking. If you are part-time 9 or more credits you should receive a fat check. Pay for books and supplies first and they rest you can live off of. Whats this no worker left behind….do you have to have a job to sign up? I’ve heard about the 10,000 thing, but I heard they send it broken up between semesters so you don’t blow it.

no. you dont need a job… but sadly, it wont cover your degree. it only works for Michigan growth careers. trust me – I’d be taking graf/design if the program allowed it!

they split it up between 2 years – $5k each.

  3. am going up to no worker left behind on monday. i heard sc4 has acclerated programs in electronic repair and computer programing 8 wk courses and are supossedly both available for no worker left behind program. any info would be appreciated

  4. ash Says:

yeah, i can’t do that anyway, I receive free grants from the state that pay for my college tuition and on top of that, loans for the rest, living expenses and supplies. But good luck, I know you will be amazing. I mean, you already have experience with that field as it is. *wink* *wink*

  5. Thanks for at least noticing our scholarships!

    Welfare for a BMW payment?

Ugh…this is why I’m against that sort of thing.

You’re already rich. Why are the struggling workers of Michigan going to pay for your luxury?

That all said, I hope you’re successful with it. Strangers who don’t know you and might not even want to know you have been forced to invest a lot of money in you. Don’t let them down.

  7. digitalvixon Says:

I have no IDEA what you’re talking about.
I paid cash for that BMW last year when I had a job. and I got it for a DEAL… ask Bill… i bought it off him. ITS PAID FOR.

Where do you get off calling me “rich”? I cant believe you would consider me a friend and say some bullshit like that. You dont know me. You dont know a damn thing now that I’ve heard you say that.

I was responsible when I had my money and paid off my apartment and my insurance up until the winter (which is all I could afford)…

so now that I cant find a job, and they are going to offer the assistance, i’ll take the handout…

so that if I were to accidentally ram into your car, your hospital bills can be paid for you wont have to worry about suing me.

Dont ever talk to me in that condescending tone again.

thats bullshit and you know it.

  8. digitalvixon Says:

and BTW – that list of things – is being paid for by LOANS… which I have to pay back…

    not with financial aid money.

did you go to college?? you’d understand that my fafsa funds and NWLB goes directly to the college and not into my pocket.

i just cant get over that.

& I paid for college my first year… ALL OUT OF MY POCKET and with scholarships.

dont think I dont feel bad for having to ask for assistance, but if you’d rather I sat around on my ass doing nothing…

I see you as rich. I always have. It’s not a bad thing. Wealth is a good thing. You have some monetary riches obviously, tremendous social riches (when you use it), and you know how to get what you want when you put your mind to it, even when it’s a seemingly off-the-wall idea such as those dating kidnap stories. That’s “rich” in my book, Dana. I don’t begrudge you for it at all and it’s not a bad thing. I admire those qualities in you. It wasn’t meant to be insulting. No bullshit, either.

And yes, you may already outright own the BMW, but the insurance, upkeep and cost of that ownership is considerably higher than with almost all other models.

I understand FAFSA loans. For most of them, you pay back the loan and the government pays your interest. That’s a fair deal for one of the parties. I sometimes hear the term “equality” coming from those you vote for. Well…where is the equality there? Because that word doesn’t imbalance.

Sorry if it all came off condescending. Look at it from the other angle though. The subject itself kinda sets the tone. The forced generosity of others is taken directly out of their paychecks at the point of a gun. Now THAT is as condescending as it gets. Entitlement to other people’s wealth and time – which is incidentally the one thing that is truly limited for us here on this blue globe – is condescension.

*shrugs* This country’s independence only came about because people were running away from all of those things that Barack Obama and the “handout” (notice that you didn’t say handup; an important distinction there) entitlement mentality brings.

  10. digitalvixon Says:

monetary riches, eh? i’d love to see that.

i’m in the negatives, have been since october. thank god i’ve never had a credit card. i quit smoking (for the most part) because I cant afford it. i dont have a cell phone because I cant afford it. i dont go out – because I CANT AFFORD IT. so i’d really like for YOU to tell ME about ALL MY MONEY.

“forced generosity”? its financial aid! everyone takes advantage of it when they are going to school. how exactly should I pay for school? Would you like me to use all this imaginary money I’ve been saving up? wait… how about I just sit around and wait for a job to come my way? & i’ll mooch off my parents for the meantime. What you should be saying is – hey, good for you. I’m glad you’re settling down and doing something for yourself. Get that degree you’ve been working for.

the gov. only pays the interest on the subsidized loans for the duration of your college career. once you’re out, you bear the interest. dont worry – half my loan money is unsubsidized… so your precious government wont have to pay the interest on those.

And I bought that car when I could afford it. I wasn’t expecting for my job to end… Perhaps I just thought I’d look really cute driving to Michigan Works in a Beemer. I dont know who the fuck you think I am.

i think its pathetic how you have to turn everything around to suit your political agenda. The last thing I heard was that you weren’t doing much with your life – so HOW DARE YOU judge mine. Your pedestal is a joke.

“I see you as rich. I always have.”

    your perception is fucking warped.
